Time Studio

What to say about this class. Well, if I say this was my favorite class I'll be in serious risk of sounding like an ass kissing suck up. But I suppose I must risk that label, because it was indeed my favorite class. I actually got to do crap I enjoyed! It's crazy. School being enjoyable?! Who knew.

Objective
I'm not actually sure.
(I'd look at the syllabus but I lost that a long time ago.)

Assignments
- Photo Thing
- Flipbooks
- Flash Animation
- Video Project
- Performance Art
(I hate performance art. That was the worst, most frustrating class of the semester.)
- Artist Presentation
-  This Blog

Technical Skills Learned
- Flash
- Final Cut Pro
(in progress of learning)

Websites I Visit Frequently
www.postsecret.com

Artists I Like
Barbara Kruger
(She's literally one of the only ones. I don't generally enjoy the whole 'art scene'.)

Grade I'll Probably Get
A
(If I don't get an A, I think I might actually curl up into the fetal position and weep.)

Drawing Studio

Oh heavens. This class. Mm mm mm. Well, first off, Katie Baines, the teacher, turned out to be very cool. This is despite the fact that the homework was a killer. Actually, most everything about this class was devastating. Not only to my eyes, back, arms, and hands, but also to my soul.
Drawing isn't something I enjoy on a regular basis. And by 'regular basis' I mean 'ever'.

Objective
Learn the basics and fundamentals of drawing.

What it Means
Everyone has to do it so suck it up and get it done.

What I Learned
- I dislike working with charcoal, pencil, conte crayon,  paint, ink, and pen.
- Also, no matter what I drew or how many hours I spent, whatever I was working on never looked as good as I wanted it to.
- Even if I spent more hours on it, it still didn't look like I wanted it to.
- Whatever I worked on, after I finished there was always a fleeting moment where I just wanted to rip it all up for taking away so many hours of my life.

Grade I'll Probably Get
B
(Which blows ass. Because I really wanted an A. Alas, I couldn't find some of my homework.)

Kinetic Imaging Project

This was what I had hoped to be five weeks of exciting fast paced video editing. In reality what I found myself in was a really relaxed class where not much of anything was done.

Our Assignments
- In class charcoal animation.
- Edited charcoal animation in Final Cut.
- Make cartoon of self.

What Our Class Did
Watched movies and animations.

Best Class Day
"The Incredible's" special features.

What I Learned
If you make friends with the tech guy sitting in the back of the room he'll help you out with everything from Flash to Final Cut Pro after class for other projects.

Grade I'll Probably Get
A

Overall I wasn't impressed, but that's mainly because there wasn't enough time to really do something that interesting. On the other hand, I really liked my teacher. It's really too bad I don't remember her name.

Art History (Death)

This was the worst, most horrifying, ridiculous, scandalizing, awful class I've ever taken in my life.

I dropped it after a few days. Best decision I ever made. Though I'm sure I won't think that when I have to retake it next semester.

Objective
Learn about art.

Subject Material
Boring.

Teacher
Fucking awful.

Thing I Learned
I have the ability to accumulate a deep seated loathing for someone I don't even know.

Grade I'll Probably Get
A bit fat W.

If anything, this class made me even less interested in art then I was before. I now dread art history. Which is too bad, because when I had Michael Shaffer it was actually rather interesting. Congratulations Mr. Cronnon. You've killed my desire to learn.

Focus Inquiry

This may have actually been the easiest class I've ever taken (in high school and college).

Objective
Learn about VCU and how to objectively blah blah blah blah blah blah.

What it Means
Take a worthless and boring class so
the university can suck up your money.

Supposed Learning
How to think critically and conduct well thought out papers.

What I Actually Learned
- How to pass notes without being caught.
- How to have a conversation across the
room with nothing but eye contact.

This class, while boring, was supremely easy and simple. I wish there was more to say about it but there really, really isn't. We were supposed to learn...something. Something about english, I'm sure. It was a really group participation based class. Mainly we'd just sit our desks in a circle and talk about the articles that nobody read. And by nobody I of course mean everyone. Of course.

Grade I'll Probably Get
You tell me.
